Fairing Compounds

Primary
The primer is the first layer that serves to protect the surface, but also to ensure that the following finishing and protective layers will adhere to the surface. There are generic primaries that can be applied on all surfaces and others more specific.

Undercoat
The undercoat is a paint coating which is normally applied after the primary and before the finish. This ink layer can be used as a binder or as insulating.

Topcoat
The topcoat is used to improve the appearance of your boat, increase the surface of the hull (color, texture and brightness) or to give specific protection properties, such as anti-fouling paints. To keep the boat in consistently good condition, the finish must be renewed periodically.

Antifouling
The antifouling is the most important product you will use when you are maintaining your boat and is essential in order to keep the hull in good condition. Antifoulings contain biocides, the active compounds which repel fouling such as slime, weed, barnacles, corals and other species.
